How to Trace a Fault
- Isolate Power: Ensure the circuit you are testing is safely isolated from mains power if working on electrical lines.
- Connect Transmitter: Attach the red alligator clip to the target wire, and the black clip to an independent earth/ground stake (crucial for accurate depth readings).
- Power On: Turn on both the transmitter and receiver. Select your desired signal code and transmission power level.
- Trace the Cable: Sweep the receiver close to the ground or wall. The audible tone and visual LCD signal strength will guide you along the cable's path.
- Pinpoint the Break: Follow the signal until it drops off sharply. The point where the signal disappears is the location of the break or fault.
